Cassidy Darkstar set out from Lake Elune'ara in Moonglade, and there Rambleon the hunter joined him, a companion who would walk beside him for most of the road that followed. Together they passed through Darnassus and down to Rut'theran Village, crossed the Veiled Sea to Auberdine in Darkshore, and came over the water to Stormwind Harbor. In the Mage Quarter Cassidy laid down the errand called "Devils in Westfall" and took up another: to bring the Scroll of Messaging to Gaxim Rustfizzle in Stonetalon. Then he went out by the Valley of Heroes, through Goldshire and Forest's Edge, and so into Westfall. He gathered oats for "Poor Old Blanchy" among the farms of that land, and in the Dagger Hills he took up the errands of "Thunderbrew" and "Collecting Memories."
Beyond Moonbrook lay the Deadmines, and into them Cassidy went with a fellowship gathered along the way. Dire the warrior held the line with him through all that dark work. Jstermy the hunter and Emchetyre the mage came soon after and stayed to the end, and Cortonna the mage was with them only a little while. In those halls they overcame Marisa du'Paige and Rhahk'Zor. In the Mast Room they felled Sneed and his Shredder, and so the charge laid on him in "Underground Assault" was fulfilled. In the Goblin Foundry Gilnid fell, and at last they came down into Ironclad Cove among the Defias Blackguards. The road through the mines was hard, and Cassidy fell more than once before the company broke up at Sentinel Hill. But Rambleon stayed with him still.
Then came the long gleaning of Westfall. At the Dead Acre they slew Harvest Reapers and a Greater Fleshripper. By Stendel's Pond they fought the Riverpaw gnolls, and there Raven the warlock walked with them for a while. Cassidy took gnoll paws for "Patrolling Westfall" and red bandanas from the Defias at Demont's Place. At Alexston Farmstead he gathered okra and hops and broke the Harvest Watchers until twenty had fallen. He found a simple compass for "Humble Beginnings," snouts of goretusks for the stew, and Furlbrow's Pocket Watch, the forgotten heirloom. One by one these errands were carried home, to Sentinel Hill and to Saldean's Farm, and to the Jansen Stead, where Poor Old Blanchy's oats were given at last. In Fargodeep Mine he gathered gold dust and brought it to Goldshire.
So he returned to Stormwind, and in Cathedral Square Cassidy came into new strength, reaching his twenty-first level. There he completed "Humble Beginnings," and a picture was taken of that moment. In the Dwarven District he finished "Underground Assault," and in the Royal Library "Speaking of Fortitude," and he took up the errand named "Brother Paxton." There Rambleon parted from him at last. Cassidy went home alone through Darnassus and the Cenarion Enclave, over the sea once more, and south by Twilight Shore into Ashenvale, to Lake Falathim, the Shrine of Aessina and Astranaar. At Maestra's Post he accepted "Bathran's Hair." On the Zoram Strand Rockin the shaman joined him for a short while, and together they set foot in Blackfathom Deeps and slew a Fallenroot Satyr before going their separate ways. The way to Stonetalon, and to Gaxim, still lay open before him.
